You want to achieve a lot things in life. You have a lot of dreams of who you want to be in the future and you want to make sure that you can achieve those dreams. Today, I will be discussing the key steps that you will need, to take control of your life, so that you can reach all your targets in life.
Because, without having these in order, you will face a harder time in achieving your life goals. So, let’s dive right in!
what’s in your control & what’s not
First of all, you need to understand that there are two things in life.
#1 is things that you can’t control. These can be political events including who runs your country. The weather. Other people and their feelings. Whether you like or approve of these things is irrelevant. Because for the most part, in most instances, they’re totally out of your control.
#2 is things you can control. All the things you can control in your life are only within yourself. Your body, your mind. The friends you choose. The hobbies you pursue. The career path you take. Your life goals. Who you want to become. These are for the most part in your control. Sometimes it might feel like it’s not, but with a strong mindset, you will realize that these are the only things that are in your hands.
If you argue that you can make a change in politics, the weather or other people, I won’t rule it out 100%. But first, you need to prove to yourself and the world that you’re capable enough to get your own house in order. Otherwise, it’s just virtue signaling, plain & simple.
So first concentrate on improving yourself, and when the time comes in the future, the world will listen. One day in the future you might be formidable enough to change the world. But today’s discussion is about personal growth for a better you.
So, let’s get started!
Never stop learning in Life

One of the best markers for success in life is to never stop learning. Any successful person you talk to will always say that there is never an end to gathering new knowledge.
The world is moving fast. So, it’s an absolute must that you update yourself with the latest information, technology and ideas. Ignore this advice at your own risk! As, if you don’t keep yourself updated, you will be left behind in the dust! So, to be in control of your life, it is absolutely necessary to be armed with the latest knowledge that affects you.
The wonderful thing about the modern high-tech world is that all of the world’s information that has ever been discovered is right at your fingertips, thanks to the advent of the Internet. So absolutely no one has an excuse to say that they don’t have the opportunity to learn & keep acquiring knowledge.
And, as the old adage goes “The lesser you know, the more you think you know”. So, if you ever think you have mastered something, think again. Because the actual professional in any field will be the first to admit that they only know just a little of the vast amount of information available.
This is akin to a drop of water in an ocean. Think of all the knowledge in the world as the vast ocean itself. You might be able to gather some of that water in a cup or a jug or even a huge tub, but you will never be able get all that water in to one place, for yourself.
So, keep yourself humble, have an open mind and be always ready to learn new things.
Choose a High Paying career path as early as possible to ensure financial stability
Choosing a career path that is fulfilling and pays you well is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life. Yes, you can switch professions later in life, but it’s best that you do this as early as possible. This is because, once you choose a definite career path, ideally in your late teens or early twenties, you will have more than enough time to learn and master it.
And, you will invariably gather more experience than a person who was late to the party. Also, as mentioned in the first point, there is no limit to what you can learn about any subject. So, getting an early start is an absolute game changer.
This also gives you ample time to be an expert in your chosen field. This in turn will let you master your skills faster and be in the top 10 to 20% in your chosen field. This would of course enable you to earn more than 80% of persons in the same field as you.
Taking control of your life, means being financially stable, so do not fumble this one.
Invest your hard-earned Money to create Passive income streams

So, you’re doing your best to keep learning and gather knowledge. And you have chosen a great career path that lets you earn a handsome income. What’s next? Investing your hard-earned money to receive passive income.
To be in control of your life is to have the freedom to do what you love. You might have a limited time for fun and leisurely activities in the early stages of your career, freelancing or when building a business. But what you should be after is to use the formative years of your professional life to build a substantial investment portfolio. This will enable you to enjoy life for what it truly is. So, if you play your cards right you will be able to achieve financial freedom with the right balance of hard & smart work.
Our goal would be to achieve a passive income that eventually covers all our yearly expenses & more. Look in to investing your money in the following for a steady passive income:
- High-yield savings accounts
- Long Term Fixed Deposits / Certificates of deposit
- Government bonds
- Dividend Yielding Stocks
- Index Funds
- Rental Housing
- Start a small business
Choose to Eat healthy & Control your Bad Cravings
What is the greatest wealth in life? It is undoubtedly your health. If you’re healthy & strong, with the right mindset there is basically nothing that you cannot achieve.
If you don’t believe this, just think of someone who is in poor health. Or remember that one time you were sick, where you felt pretty bad, tired and of no use. Compare that to your current self, healthy & brimming with life.
So, if you want to be healthy throughout your life, you need to eat healthy. Say no to ultra processed foods – basically all foods manufactured in a lab, from cereals to processed meats. Cut down on carbs. And try and eliminate sugars as much as possible, as sugars can wreak havoc on your health, leading to many illnesses.
Always go for food in its most natural form. Choosing Meat, Eggs, Milk, Whole Grains, Fruits & Vegetables is the wise choice. Making a choice of having these as your diet can do wonders to your body and mind. It will most definitely help you maintain an optimal weight along with great mental clarity. So, eating healthy is one more important key to be in control of your life.
Exercise & be Fit
Along with a healthy diet daily exercise is of utmost importance if you want to be in control of your life. There’s enough research evidence to show that getting an ample amount of exercise is crucial for overall well-being no matter your age.

Exercise helps you with maintaining your ideal physique. Also, it helps in releasing feel good hormones such as dopamine & serotonin which improves mood resulting in overall better mental health.
You can go to your local Gym for resistance training or buy a few Dumbbells, Plates & Bars for a Home workout. Don’t feel like doing the training with equipment? You can always do body weight exercises to achieve great results.
Not a fan of just concentrating on building your physique? Choose jogging, running or similar sports. Or you can always join a Martial Arts gym. Other than weight training, personally for me, it is what I like most. There are so many benefits of learning a Martial Art, that I would recommend everyone to try it at least once in their lifetime!
Also, it goes without saying that physically training your body makes you much more comfortable in your own skin. You will find a new found confidence in yourself because of the improvements you have made in your body and mind.
Limit or completely stop your vices
One the worst things that you can do to lose control of your life is to be a slave to addictive substances or bad habits.
Try to stay away from smoking, drinking alcohol & any other sort of drugs. Smoking is not only bad for your health, it’s bad for your finances in the short & long run as well.
When it comes to alcohol or drugs, it is simply your way of removing yourself from the present situation for a temporary fix of “happiness”. Which is a totally manufactured feeling and any urge you get to remove yourself from any situation artificially using a toxic substance is a clear sign that you need to work on yourself or fix a bad situation that you’re in. Getting high means, you’re just putting things on hold without facing them in the present. You could call it a form of procrastination as well.
So, ask yourself, do you want to confront your demons right now? Or face them later on when they have grown to be a bigger, almost unmanageable and more formidable threat to you?
Fix your problems now using your brain rather than looking for temporary exits, and take control of your life for good.
In Conclusion
What do you think of the points above? Have you already implemented them in your life? What do you think are the ones that best work for you?
